Over the years sub shops have come and gone but one has remained and the one that has remained is my favorite. The Great Outdoors is by far the best!
My favorite sandwiches are the #8, which is a Turkey and Cheese Sandwich and also The Invention, which is Ham and Cheese woth cream cheese heated and served on Toasted Bread...it is Amazing!
The service at the location is great and is always fast and friendly! -

WOW. I never thought I would have an issue with this place. The food is awesome but now I wonder about the cleanliness "behind the scene".
Sunday morning, I am the first customer. Just finished a 5k and looking to enjoy my food and chill before heading home, NO SUCH LUCK. I sit in a booth that isnt cleaned then notice the other tables ate dirty too. One employee starts putting chairs on the table like they are closing and another starts Vacumming. I can hear that crap and Not Relax at home. Then they get out Stinky mop water and mop the floors. Seriously , grrrr. Now I have to smell funk and eat.
After they are done mopping, the chairs are put back onto the floor and THE TABLES NOT WIPED and customers came in and sat at them. GROSS.
Heads up. Vacumming , mopping and tables being cleaned should be done PRIOR TO OPENING FOR SERVICE. -

This is my favorite sandwich shop in Dallas. Fresh ingredients and fast and friendly service. My wife and I took her aunt here a few weeks back when she was visiting from small town Childress, tx. And she kept talking about the subway in Childress when asking the employees about their sandwich options.....one of the employees, busy slicing turkey right off the breast said "Do they slide their meat at your subway?"......lol. I laughed to myself.

First time at the great outdoors. I cannot be more happy that our team decided to come here for lunch. WOW I really enjoyed everything from the food to the AMAZING service we received. Thank you to the staff as they were so helpful. WE WILL BE BACK AGAIN.

Really tasty subs and the service was excellent in the drive through. Friendly and helpful staff each time we went. I didn't think it was slow because they're making your sandwich right when you order it. I can understand that it probably takes a while if there are a lot of people in front of you but in that case I'd go in or call ahead. We called ahead one night because we knew they were closing soon and didn't want to be THOSE PEOPLE who show up and order 5 minutes before closing and they were so nice! #10 hot and #1 were the order of choice with a pint of potato salad and whole dill pickles. And $.75 refills. I'm sad to leave Dallas.
